The Hesiman Trophy runner-up in 1987, McPherson earned the Golden Helmet (outstanding player), O’Brien(outstanding quarterback) and Unitas(outstanding quarterback) awards. McPherson’s season passing efficiency of 164.3 is entrenched in the SU record book. He played with the Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Oilers in the NFL.
