 Syracuse head football coach Doug Marrone has added Nathaniel Hackett and Roger Harriott to his coaching staff. Hackett will mentor the Orange quarterbacks and the passing game and Harriott will coach the running backs. In addition, Marrone will call the offensive plays.

Syracuse University senior Jim McKenzie will receive the 2010 Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award at the 10th Annual Central New York Chapter of the National Football Foundation (CNY NFF) Scholar-Athletes Awards Banquet at the Turning Stone Resort on January 31 at 4:00 p.m. In its 11th year, the CNY NFF was formed to support the local high schools and colleges in their mission of developing leadership through the life-related lessons football teaches, including teamwork and academic excellence.

Former Orange standout Dwight Freeney and the Indianapolis Colts have a chance to win their second Super Bowl title in three years. The Colts will battle the New Orleans Saints for Super Bowl XLIV in Miami, Fla. on Sunday, February 7 at 6:25 p.m. Freeney and the Colts beat the Chicago Bears, 29-17.

Former Syracuse University standout and NFL All-Pro Rob Moore is returning to his alma mater to coach the Orange wide receivers, head football coach Doug Marrone announced today. The 12-year National Football League veteran is the wide receivers coach for Phoenix Junior College and is a consultant for Protect Management and Athlete’s Performance, training collegiate football players who are entering the NFL draft. He is also a football analyst for ESPN Radio 860 Am in Phoenix where he participates in Arizona Cardinals broadcasts. During the Spring of 2009, Moore completed an internship at Syracuse with Marrone.

The National Football League Divisional Championship games will include six former Syracuse University football players on three teams, including Baltimore Ravens linebacker Jameel McClain, tackle Adam Terry, wide receiver David Tyree, Indianapolis Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney, wide receiver Taj Smith, and San Diego Charters safety Steve Gregory.
