The Syracuse men’s lacrosse team is the consensus No. 1 team in the nation. The Orange edged out Duke to claim the top spot in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) preseason coaches poll and the NIKE/Inside Lacrosse preseason media rankings. Both polls were released on Monday, Feb. 1.

Junior Angie Sagnelli (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and junior John Galloway (Syracuse, N.Y.) have been named the Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week for the week of January 25, 2010.

Former Syracuse lacrosse All-American Steve Scaramuzzino has joined the Orange coaching staff as a volunteer assistant, head coach John Desko announced on Wednesday, Jan. 13. Scaramuzzino will work primarily with the team’s offense and joins a group of coaches who are all Syracuse alums and played for Hall of Famer Roy Simmons Jr. during their collegiate careers.
