11.19.09 | Women's Ice Hockey

The Syracuse Orange will return to the ice after its week off when it travels to CHA conference rival Robert Morris. SU will play against the Colonials on Friday, November 20 and Saturday, November 21, with both games set to begin at 7 p.m. It is the second consecutive conference series for the Orange, and only its second familiar opponent of the season. The game will be the final road game for Syracuse in 2009 before it begins a three weekend homestand to close out the year.

11.19.09 | Field Hockey

The Syracuse University field hockey team had six of its members named to the 2009 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Mideast Region Team. The Orange placed four student-athletes on the first team and two on the second team. Junior forward Lindsey Conrad, junior back Kim Coyle, sophomore midfielder Martina Loncarica and freshman back Amy Kee were SU’s first-team selections. Conrad and Loncarica are Syracuse’s first back-to-back to first-team regional All-Americans since 2000-01. Junior back Maggie Befort and sophomore forward Heather Susek were named to the second team. Befort is SU’s first back-to-back second-team regional All-American since 2005-06. The 2009 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-America Teams will be released on Monday, November 23.

11.19.09 | Football

Orange head coach Doug Marrone announced today that senior linebacker Derrell Smith will miss the final two games of the 2009 season due to injury. Smith reported some soreness in his left knee after the Akron game. An MRI revealed a tear in his lateral meniscus. Following the contest at Louisville, Smith reported increased soreness in his left knee prohibiting further activity. Surgery, which will be performed in the near future by Dr. Irving Raphael, and rehabilitation will sideline Smith for the rest of season.

11.19.09 | Men's Lacrosse

Once again Syracuse lacrosse has been recognized by fans around the nation. The Orange took home five Inside Lacrosse "Laxie Awards" for the second straight season in categories ranging from "Game of the Year” to "Highlight Reel Goal of the Year.” The winners were selected in an online vote by the fans.

11.18.09 | Women's Basketball

The Syracuse women’s basketball team will play its third consecutive home game on Thursday, November 19 against the Alabama State Lady Hornets inside Manley Field House. It is the first of two games the Orange will play in Manley (Dec. 30), with both being free to the public. The game can be heard on SU’s flagship station WTLA 1200/1400 AM and on student station WJPZ 89.1 FM. Live audio for every Orange game is available on SUAthletics.com via Orange All Access. SU has only played two games in Manley Field House since 2006-07 and is 2-0 in those contests, defeating Lehigh, 61-54, in 2007 and Longwood, 72-40, in 2008. It will attempt to keep its streak alive while also trying to go 3-0 for the first time since 2004-05 when the Orange began the season 5-0.
