Year XII: The Sherman's March On the Record Book
Record: 26-9, 11-5 in the BIG EAST
The Orange won its Second BIG EAST Tournament title by defeating Villanova 85-68 in the finals.
Sherman Douglas became the school's all-time assist leader compiling 288 assists in his career. Douglas averaged 8.2 assists a game this season.
Douglas became the school's all-time steals leader with his 69 steals in just 35 games for a total of 166 in his three seasons as an Orangeman.
"Sherman is the most complete guard in the league. He's been all-league two years in a row and he just seems to get better every game. He led the league in assists and just had a tremendously strong year. I don't like to rank players, but he's proven he's one of the top guards in the country."

In post season play, the Orangemen defeated North Carolina A&T 69-55 before falling to Rhode Island 97-94 in the second round at the Smith Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Jim Boeheim's .755 winning percentage ranks 11th of all-time and fourth highest among active coaches.
Rony Seikaly broke Jon Cincebox's rebounding record of 1,004, which stood for 29 years this season when he grabbed 335 rebounds making him the all-time rebounding leader with 1, 094.
Factoid
SU's victory against Villanova in the BIG EAST finals was it's 100th against conference opponents since the league began play in 1979.
BIG GAME: Barros vs. Douglas
BIG EAST rivals, but future teammates on the Boston Celtics in the 1995-1996 season, Sherman Douglas of the Syracuse Orangemen and Dana Barros of the Boston College Eagles squared off twice this season. Syracuse defeated Boston College in both meetings.
In the first game, Derrick Coleman registered a double double scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds. Rony Seikaly scored 19 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. All-American Sherman Douglas scored four points and had six assists. For the Eagles, Dana Barros led the way with 17 points and four assists. The Orangemen defeated the Eagles 80-67 in the Boston Garden before a crowd of 10,164.
In their second encounter, the Orange again handled the Eagles with a 90-60 victory. Rony Seikaly scored 15 points and snatched 13 rebounds. The BIG EAST leader in assists, Sherman Douglas also had a double double with 13 points and 12 assists. Barros again was the leading scorer for B.C with 16 points.
