Email | Print
The Syracuse University football program w ill honor the memory of Omain Gullette, a student-athlete who had signed a National Letter of Intent to play football at SU, at its football game at Temple on Saturday, October 12, 2002. SU Director of Athletics Jake Crouthamel and Director of Football Operations Reggie Terry will present Omain's parents, Alvin and Pamela, with a framed SU football jersey bearing Omain's name and number. To honor the memory of Omain, the number #66, which he would have worn at Syracuse University, will be left vacant for four years as a memorial. Omain, a graduate of Glen Mills High School in Concordville, PA, was shot and killed in Philadelphia on June 29, 2002.

"Omain and his family will always will be a part of the SU football family," said SU head coach Paul Pasqualoni. "We honor his memory by giving his family his Syracuse jersey at the Temple game. We'll keep him in our thoughts by reserving his SU locker and jersey number for the years we had hoped to have him in the program."

While at Glen Mills, Gullette was named first-team all-state, was selected to participate in the Big 33 all-star game, excelled academically, voted vice-president of the Student Government, and was scheduled to report for his first pre-season camp at Syracuse University in August as a scholarship member of the football team.
