Email | Print
Former Syracuse University standout student-athlete Tim Green is one of 15 former collegiate football players who will be enshrined in the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame on Saturday, August 10 in South Bend, IN. He is the 12th person with ties to Syracuse to be inducted.

The Class of 2001, which also includes three former coaches, will participate in activities in South Bend on Friday and Saturday. Activities scheduled for Saturday include a FanFest, a public press conference, a youth football clinic, a flag football game and an autograph session prior to the enshrinement banquet.

At Syracuse, Green was an All-America selection in 1984 and 1985, in addition to earning Academic All-America honors in both of those years. The 1985 ECAC co-Player of the Year, Green was a three-time first-team All-East and ECAC selection. He still holds the SU record for career sacks with 45.5 and for the most tackles by a down lineman with 341. A native of Liverpool, NY, Green enjoyed an eight-year career in the National Football League with the Atlanta Falcons from 1986 to 1993.

Green is the 11th person with Syracuse University football ties to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Six former Orangemen players are members of the College Football Hall of Fame, including Joe Alexander (1954), Vic Hanson (1973), Ernie Davis (1979), Floyd Little (1983), Larry Csonka (1989) and Jim Brown (1995). Former SU coach Hugh "Duffy" Daugherty was enshrined as a player and coach in 1984. In addition former head coaches Frank "Buck" O'Neill (1951), Clarence "Biggie" Munn (1973) and Floyd "Ben" Schwartzwalder (1982), and assistant coach Bud Wilkinson (1969) are enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame.
