State College, Pa. – The Syracuse cross country teams pulled out victories at the Spike Shoe Invitational, finishing first in both the men's and women's races.

"This was a huge win for us," said head coach Chris Fox. "I don't think that cross country has ever won a meet of this magnitude in the modern era."

Sophomore transfer Jeff Scull finished first for Syracuse and third overall with a time of 25:57.80. Freshman Daniel Busby and junior Kyle Heath also recorded top 10 finishes for the men. Busby finished ninth with a time of 26:26.90 and Heath placed 10th in 26:27.00.

Sophomore Nana Sang-Bender led the Orange, finishing fifth with a time of 21:25.60. Freshmen Maegan Krifchin and Jenna Bieri finished 10th and 12th, respectively. Krifchin recorded a time of 21:57.60 and Bieri recorded a time of 22:07.75.

"The freshman came up big today," Fox said. "Jenna Bieri and Maegan Krifchin both ran very well today. Daniel Busby was a top ten finisher and that is huge for a freshman."

Both Syracuse cross country teams have a week off before returning to Penn State to compete in the National Open on October 7.
