PROVIDENCE, N.Y. – Junior guard Chandrea Jones was honored by the BIG EAST on Monday for her back-to-back double-double performances in the Orange's 72-53 win against Penn State on Thursday, Dec. 6 and 79-46 victory against Northeastern on Sunday, Dec. 9. Jones averaged 16.5 points and 12.0 rebounds in the contests, earning her conference honor roll accolades.

"She is just a remarkable kid," said head coach Quentin Hillsman after the Northeastern game. "She is a remarkable athlete and she is one of the most talented basketball players at that position that I have seen in a while because she can put the ball on the floor and she can shoot it. In recruiting her, I just knew and I talked about it over and over again to our coaching staff and to the media what an explosive player she was going to be on the offensive end. She is making a commitment to the defensive end also so I'm really proud of her."

The Baltimore, Md. native, scored 15 points, pulled 10 boards and dished out three assists against the Lady Lions, who received votes in the Associated Press and Coaches Polls. Jones logged 26 minutes in the game and helped the Syracuse earn its second win all-time against Penn State.

Jones followed that performance with 18 points, 14 rebounds and four assists against Northeastern. She earned a first-half double-double with 14 points and 10 boards. Jones connected on 8-of-14 from the floor, including 2-of-4 from behind the arc.

This season Jones, the Warhawk Classic MVP, is averaging a team-high 14.6 points and 9.3 rebounds per contest. She has scored in double-figures seven-out-of-eight games this season.

The Orange returns to the hardwood on Sunday, Dec. 16 at Princeton for a 2 p.m. outing.
