Jonathan Jakowski, a graduate assistant in Syracuse's strength and conditioning program, received a civilian commendation from Syracuse Police Chief Gary Miguel for his work in developing and implementing the successful weight circuit program utilized by the academy. Jakowski was honored during the graduation ceremony in the auditorium of the Everson Museum which recognized 20 recruits for successfully completing the Police Academy.
Jakowski, who is in his second year as a graduate assistant and his third with the Orange strength and conditioning staff, assists the full-time staff with many of the Orange teams. He was as intern during te 2005-06 year. A four-year letterwinner football letterwinner at Cortland, Jakowski earned his bachelor's degree in sport management in May 2005. He is working toward his master's degree in instruction design, development and evaluation from Syracuse. He attended Westhill High in Syracuse, where he played football, track and lacrosse.
