SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Orange men's lacrosse team held its annual Media Day on Friday, Jan. 11 at the Carrier Dome. Head coach John Desko previewed the upcoming season in his introductory news conference and the student-athletes participated in interviews and posed for pictures.
Also on hand Friday was SU head women's lacrosse coach Gary Gait, who has teamed with TK 99 FM and Galaxy Communications to present "Gary Gait's Laxapalooza," which is an event that will take place all day at the Dome on Saturday, Feb. 9. Gait and Galaxy Communications CEO Ed Levine made the announcement prior to the Media Day festivities.
Desko fielded questions from reporters about a number of topics, including rules changes, the growth of the sport, what it's like coaching his son, freshman midfielder Tim Desko (Syracuse, N.Y.), and the impact of this year's freshmen class a whole, many of whom hail from Central New York.
Syracuse gets the 2008 season underway on Sunday, Feb. 17 at home against Villanova.
