SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Behind a career-high 24 points by freshman guard Erica Morrow, the No. 23/24 Orange women's basketball team defeated Marquette, 70-67, on Sunday in front of a Carrier Dome crowd of 3,552 – the third largest in SU history – during "Think Pink" and National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Syracuse made 6-of-8 free throws during the final 3:33 to improve to 18-4 overall and 6-3 during conference play. Marquette goes to 13-10 and 5-5 in conference play.
 
MU trailed by as many as 12 in the second half before using a 14-2 run between 11:32 and 7:12 to grab its first lead since the 4:33 of the first. SU rallied for a 7-0 run, which was capped by a three-pointer by Morrow at 5:43 to put the Orange ahead, 64-58.
 
A layup by Marquette senior forward Sventlana Kovalenko regained the lead (65-64) for her team at 4:02, but senior forward Fantasia Goodwin's free throw at 3:33 pulled the score even for the fourth time of the afternoon. After the Orange built at 70-67 advantage, Marquette went for two points with time running out, but a Goodwin rejection with three ticks remaining secured the win.
 
SU, which is 10-1 at home this season, had three players in double-digits with sophomore forward Nicole Michael and junior guard Chandrea Jones each posting 10 points.
 
Sophomore forward Vionca Murray posted eight points, including four free-throws at the end of the game.
 
Goodwin, who scored nine points, paced the Orange with 14 rebounds, while Jones and Michael added nine and eight boards, respectively.
 
Syracuse finished shooting 40.0 percent (24-60) from the floor, 37.5 percent (3-8) from downtown and 73.1 percent (19-26) from the charity stripe. Marquette posted 36.5 percent (23-63) from the field, 23.5 percent (4-17) from three-point range and 85.0 percent (17-20) from the free-throw line.
 
The Orange outrebounded the Golden Eagles 48-34 and remains undefeated when winning the battle on the glass.
 
Marquette was led by junior guard Krystal Ellis's 16 points and Kovalenko and freshman guard Angel Robinson produced 13 and 10 points.
 
SU trailed for the majority of the first 17 minutes of the game, but exploded for a 21-4 run during the last 6:33 to take a 36-26 lead into the break.
 
Marquette used a 7-0 run during the first two minutes to build a 7-2 lead and two free throws by freshman forward Paige Fiedorowicz at 11:25 gave the Golden Eagles their largest lead of the first (15-8).
 
The resilient Orange picked up the momentum and a put back by Michael at 6:23 started SU's streak, which featured baskets by five different Orange student-athletes. Michael also added a layup at 4:09 to pull the score even at 23-23 and Morrow drained a three-pointer at 3:09 to give the Orange its first lead since the game's first basket.
 
Syracuse, still riding the momentum of Morrows tray and hoops by freshman guard Tasha Harris and Goodwin, added six more points in the final minute of the first. Goodwin's layup with 46 seconds remaining was followed by a steal and a basket by Morrow with 34 left.
 
Michael grabbed an offensive board and laid it in as time expired to produce the halftime score. The Orange shot 43.3 percent (13-30) in the first and was led by Morrow's 11 points. Michael produced eight points and grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
