SYRACUSE, N.Y. –
The Syracuse Orange lost to the fifth-ranked Cincinnati Bearcats, 28-7, on Saturday afternoon at the Carrier Dome. Sophomore quarterback Ryan Nassib connected with six different receivers, completing 7-of-10 passes for 97 yards. Junior tight end Cody Catalina put the Orange on the board with his first career touchdown reception, a nine-yard catch in the first quarter.

Cincinnati jumped out to an early 7-0 lead as Cincinnati sophomore quarterback Zach Collaros connected with junior wide receiver Armon Binns for an 81-yard touchdown pass at the 7:24 mark in the opening quarter.

On Syracuse’s next possession, sophomore running back Antwon Bailey caught a career-long 30-yard pass from Nassib to reach the Cincinnati nine-yard line. Graduate student quarterback Greg Paulus connected with Catalina on the next play to tie the game, 7-7, with 4:13 remaining in the quarter. Catalina finished with two catches for a career-best 26 receiving yards.

Cincinnati scored its second touchdown of the game when it faked a 14-yard field goal and Collaros  completed a 16-yard pass to senior tight end Kazeem Alli to give the Bearcats the 14-7 advantage at the 14:11 mark of the second quarter.Cincinnati missed a field goal as time expired in the second quarter.

Collaros scored on a 13-yard touchdown pass to Binns on Cincinnati’s first possession of the half to extend the lead, 21-7, less than three minutes into the half for the only points of the third quarter.

The Bearcats scored another touchdown on a four-yard pass to sophomore tight end Adrien Robinson to go up, 28-7, with less than 10 minutes remaining in the game to settle the final score.

Syracuse will play at Pittsburgh on Saturday, November 7 (12:00 p.m., ESPNU).
