SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse University Director of Athletics Dr. Daryl Gross announced today that he is making a change in the leadership of the men’s soccer program and that Dean Foti will not return as head coach.

"No one has been more committed to this program over the years than Coach Foti has and I want to thank him for all he’s given to the soccer program, this athletics department and this University,” Gross said. “He worked hard to try to turn this program into one that could compete for conference championships in one of the most competitive soccer leagues in the nation.

"Coach Foti has been dedicated to teaching and guiding the student-athletes who have played for him and his commitment to their development both in the classroom and in the community has been outstanding. We wish him and his family the very best moving forward.”

Foti, the 1999 New York Region Coach of the Year, compiled a 141-171-33 record from 1991-2009 as head coach of the Orange.

As a student-athlete at Syracuse, Foti was a four-year starter on defense from 1979-82 and was a two-time team captain. He helped the Orange win the inaugural BIG EAST Tournament championship as a senior in 1982.

A comprehensive, national search for Foti’s successor will begin immediately.
