SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior forward Nicole Michael was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for her record-setting performance in Syracuse 87-74 win against Binghamton. She is averaging a team-best 19.8 points, a team-high 10.3 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.3 assists in SU's first four games of the year. Her efforts have led the Orange to a 4-0 record, its best start since 2004-05 when it went 5-0.
Michael registered the best game of her career against Binghamton on Sunday, November 22. The senior went 8-of-12 from 3-point range and scored 36 points to go along with a career-best tying 17 rebounds. Michael's career-high eight 3-pointers tied an SU record. She is also fourth all-time at Syracuse in scoring and fourth in rebounding. It was her 20th career 20-plus point game (SU record) and her 24th double-double, which is fifth all-time in school history.
The senior recorded her first double-double of the year a game earlier after she scored 18 points and pulled down 14 rebounds in SU's win against Alabama State. She also had a team-best tying 14 points and five rebounds in the victory versus Presbyterian College. Michael had 11 points and five rebounds in the season opener against Fairleigh-Dickinson.
The Orange will compete in the Cancun Thanksgiving Classic in Cancun, Mexico. It will play games against Old Dominion on Thanksgiving Day at 8:15 p.m. and against Butler on Friday, November 27 at 8:15 p.m.
