Orange No. 25 in USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll

SYRACUSE – The Syracuse University women’s basketball team made its first appearance in the top 25 today. SU is receiving 56 votes in the latest USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll, putting SU 25th. It is the fifth consecutive week the Orange has received votes in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll. Syracuse also received 18 votes in the latest AP Poll, putting SU 31st. It is the third consecutive week SU has received votes in the AP Poll.

 

The Orange is off to its best start in 31 years after its 70-54 defeat of Ohio on Dec. 6. With the win, both the Orange men and women are 8-0 for the first time in school history. The women were also 8-0 in 1978-79 and 10-0 in 1974-75.

 

Syracuse will look to improve to 9-0 when its plays host to Dartmouth on Sunday, December 13 for a 5 p.m. matchup inside the friendly confines of the Carrier Dome. 

 

The Orange was last ranked in the top-25 on February 18, 2008 when SU was 24th in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll and 22nd in the AP Poll.
