PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sophomore guard Jonny Flynn earned a spot on the BIG EAST's Weekly Honor Roll, the conference announced on Monday. Flynn posted a career-high 35 points and tallied six assists in Syracuse's 100-94 setback to conference foe Providence.
The member of the Wooden Award top 50 list played all 40 minutes against the Friars. He was 12-of-22 from the field, including going 7-for-9 from beyond the arc. Flynn was also a perfect 7-for-7 from the foul line.
Flynn has started in all 22 games this season and leads the team in three categories. He is first in points with 369 and averages 16.8 points per game, first in assists with 129 and is tied for the team lead with 30 steals.
This is Flynn's third conference honor of the season. He was the BIG EAST Player of the Week the week of December 1 after helping the Orange to three victories that week, including against then top 25 powers Florida and Kansas. A few weeks later, Flynn earned himself a spot on the weekly honor after leading the team with 24 points for a victory against then #23/21 Memphis.
Marquette's Jerel McNeal was the conference's player of the week, while Rutgers' Mike Rosario was the league's rookie of the week. Joining Flynn on the honor roll was Hasheem Thabeet (Connecticut), Jeremy Hazell (Seton Hall), Dante Cunningham (Villanova) and De;Sean Butler (West Virginia).
