Moten to Receive Medal of Excellence

All-time leading scorer Lawrence Moten will receive the Vic Hanson Medal of Excellence at the 39th annual Hardwood Fund Dinner, which recognizes the Syracuse men's basketball team.

All-time Orange men's basketball leading scorer and four-time All-American Lawrence Moten ’95 is the 27th recipient of the Vic Hanson Medal of Excellence. Moten will be honored at the 38th Annual Hardwood Banquet on Sunday, March 8 at the OnCenter with the award which is given to an individual or individuals who have ties to the men’s basketball program and have made outstanding contributions to college basketball. In addition to the dinner, fans will enjoy a silent auction, a player autograph session and a live auction hosted by SU head coach Jim Boeheim.

Moten scored 2,334 points during his career, averaging 19.3 points per game, and he led the Orange in scoring average in his final three seasons. He ranks eighth on the career steals list with 215 and sits atop both the career field goals made list (838) and the career field goals attempted list (1,736).

The four-year letterwinner was one of 25 Orange players named to the Syracuse All-Century team in 2000. He was drafted by the Vancouver Grizzlies and spent two seasons with the team.
