PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sophomore guard Jonny Flynn earned a spot on the BIG EAST’s Weekly Honor Roll, the conference announced on Monday. It is his fourth conference honor this season. Flynn averaged 22.0 points and 5.5 assists in a 1-1 week by the Orange.
In SU’s 74-61 victory against West Virginia on February 4, Flynn totaled 22 points and added three assists. He then followed up that performance with a 22-point, eight-assist outing in Syracuse’s 102-85 setback at Villanova on February 7.
The Niagara Falls, N.Y. native leads the Orange this season in several categories, including points (413), assists (142) and steals (35). After Saturday’s performance, Flynn is 39 points away from registering 1,000 career points as he currently sits at 961. He would be the 51st member of the Orange program to reach the milestone.

The award is given to the nation’s top player who is making progress toward graduation and maintaining at least a 2.0 grade point average. He is also one of 17 finalists for The Bob Cousy Award presented by the Hartford. The Bob Cousy Award is given out each year to the top collegiate point guard.
