SYRACUSE, NY -- Syracuse men’s basketball players Eric Devendorf and Paul Harris plan to enter their names into the 2009 NBA draft. Jonny Flynn has decided to submit his name for the NBA draft but will not retain an agent, enabling himself the opportunity to return to Syracuse for the 2009-10 season.
Devendorf, who is a senior academically, advanced to 14th on Syracuse’s all-time scoring list this past season. He averaged 15.7 points a game, the second-best mark on the team, and upped his career point total to 1,680. Devendorf served stints in the SU starting lineup in each of his four years with the team. In 2007-08, he averaged 17.0 points an outing over the first 10 contests before suffering a knee injury that ended his campaign. He successfully rehabbed the injury and returned to the team in time for the 2008-09 campaign.
Devendorf ranks third in career three-point baskets (208), fifth in three-point attempts (550) and fifth in three-point percentage (.378). This past season he converted 82 three pointers, the tenth-best single-season total at SU.
Harris, a junior, joined the school’s 1,000-point list this season and has accumulated 1,253 points in three seasons with the Orange. He has logged 107 games, including 72 as a starter. Harris averaged 12.0 points and 8.1 rebounds per game this past season. He is seventh in career free throws (413) and tied for eighth in career free throws attempted (571) at Syracuse. Harris has posted 28 double-doubles, good for ninth on the program’s all-time ledger.
Flynn, who was a candidate for the John R. Wooden Award and the Bob Cousy Award this past season, finished his sophomore campaign as Syracuse’s top scorer with a 17.4 average. During the course of the campaign he surpassed 1,000 career points and now has 1,211 to rank 38th. He has started all 73 games of his Syracuse tenure. Flynn, an Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American and a collegehoops.net Third Team All-American, earned the David Gavitt Award as most outstanding player at the 2009 BIG EAST Tournament after helping Syracuse to the title game. He also was a second-team All-BIG EAST Conference selection.
Flynn set a Syracuse record by playing 1,418 minutes this winter. His 38 games played tied another school standard. After just two seasons, he ranks seventh in career assists (439) at SU. He had 254 assists this past year, the fifth-best single-season mark at SU and the second-most by an Orange sophomore. Flynn’s 36 double-digit scoring efforts in 2008-09 rank third on the all-time list at Syracuse.

Devendorf, Harris and Flynn each helped Syracuse to a 28-10 record and a berth in the 2009 NCAA Tournament.
