Eight Named BIG EAST All-Academic
The 2008 Syracuse field hockey team ended the year with the best record in school history.

Eight members of the field hockey team were selected to the 2008-09 BIG EAST All-Academic Team. Leading the way with her third consecutive selection was junior surface pattern design major Tracy Deitrick. Environmental engineering major Maggie Befort is a two-time selection. There were six first time honorees including second-team All-American and first-team All BIG EAST selection,  junior social studies education major Lindsey Conrad. Joining Conrad with their first selections were second-team All-American Martina Loncarica, freshman biochemistry major Shannon Connolly, freshman pre-med major Anne-Sophie Van der Post freshman marketing management major Erika Wachter and junior nutrition major Lena Voelmle.

Syracuse finished the 2008 season with a 22-2, 5-1 BIG EAST record and ranked No. 3 in the STX/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll.  The 2009 season begins with two road contests at Northeastern on Fri., Aug. 28 and New Hampshire on Sun., Aug. 30.
