SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse tennis team defeated Georgetown 5-2 on Sunday in its BIG EAST home opener at Drumlins Tennis Center. Freshmen Eva Raszkiewicz and Aleah Marrow teamed up for a doubles win and each won their singles matches.
The Orange was dominate in singles play, capturing wins in five out of six matches. Freshmen Marrow, Raszkiewicz and Maddie Kobelt, each earned their second singles win of the weekend. SU's three rookies went a combined 10-7 in their first three collegiate matches this weekend. Syracuse also got singles wins from senior Simone Kalhorn and junior Emily Harman.
In doubles action, Harman and Kobelt attracted a large crowd of fans as the pair lost a hard fought, back-and-forth, match 8-7 in a tiebreaker at first doubles.
The Orange will welcome Binghamton and Colgate for a double-header on Friday, February 4. SU will take on Binghamton at 4 p.m., followed by the SU-Colgate matchup at 7 p.m. at Drumlins Tennis Center. Admission to both matches is free.
