SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Former Syracuse All-American and NFL All-Pro
Floyd Little has a vision of becoming the first collegiate backfield in history to have all three members of one class in the Hall of Fame.
Little and Larry Csonka are already enshrined in Canton, Ohio. With Super Bowl XLVI just four days away, New York Giants head football coach and Syracuse graduate Tom Coughlin has the opportunity to take one step closer to the Hall of Fame.
“My dream, of course, is that Tom would join Larry Csonka and me in the Hall of Fame,” Little said. “I have my fingers crossed; I am rooting hard for him. I know his players are going to play hard for him.”
Coughlin is the third-winningest coach in Giants history (65-47). He has amassed an overall coaching record of 141-114, and is looking to win his second Lombardi Trophy on Sunday against the New England Patriots.
“We knew early on that Tom had knowledge of the game that was unbelievable. Although he missed a couple of blocks for me, I liked Tom as a person and as a player, and we have kept our relationship since college,” Little said with a smile.
“Tom has been a great coach for many years. He is a different kind of coach. He was an old fashioned coach like Vince Lombardi; a no nonsense type of coach. But, he has made the transition to the players of today. Not many coaches have been able to do that.”
