After posting stellar results last weekend, the Syracuse track & field continues to make progress this season, climbing eight spots in the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Northeast Regional rankings.

Coming in at No. 38th in the nation and No. 7 in the Northeast Region, the men's squad was led by Jarret Eaton’s new national record.  Eaton finished first in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking in at 7.49 seconds at the Penn State National Invitational last weekend, the fastest time in the world this season.   Junior Frank Taylor qualified for BIG EAST Championship and sealed a second place spot with a 7.32 meter long jump.

The women's team also moved up eight spots to No. 11 in the Northeast rankings, and is currently 67th in the nation, according to the National Team Computer Rankings.  Representing the Orange for the women is senior Flings Owusu-Agyapong, who took second in the 60-meter dash (7.34).

Lauren Penney finished eighth in the mile (4:39.31) at the Boston University Terrier Invitational, which broke the school record that she previously set last season.  Senior Ieva Staponkute is also having a successful season and has already qualified for the BIG EAST Championships. She placed 10th last weekend in the triple jump with a leap of 12.22-meters.

This weekend the Orange travels to the Armory in New York City for the New Balance Collegiate Invite.
