Junior Year: Devendorf tried out for the USA Basketball Pan-American team during the summer… He was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Conference Team … Devendorf opened the campaign with a 19-point, six-assist effort against SIENA… It started a string of 10 straight double-digit point outings… He logged all 40 minutes when Syracuse defeated SAINT JOSEPH’S … Devendorf tallied a season-high 23 points against MASSACHUSETTS … He had 16 points and six assists in the SU victory at VIRGINIA … Devendorf was off to a great start against EAST TENNESSEE STATE before suffering a knee injury … He had converted seven-of-nine shots, including five-of-seven three pointers, and five-of-seven free throws for 19 points.
Sophomore Year: Devendorf was an All-BIG EAST Honorable Mention selection … He also earned NABC All-District II Second-Team recognition … His 54 three-point baskets represented the third-best total by an SU sophomore, tying Preston Shumpert ... Devendorf scored in double-figures in 13-of-16 conference games and 26 contests overall … He made at least one three in 26-of-35 appearances … Devendorf was named MVP of the BCA Invitational after averaging 16.0 points a game during the three contests … He hit a career-best 11 free throws, going 11-for-12 from the stripe, when the Orange matched up against HOFSTRA … Devendorf scored 20 points in the Orange’s win at MARQUETTE … He scored a team-high 23 points in SU’s loss against ST. JOHN’S in Madison Square Garden … Devendorf grabbed a personal-best nine rebounds the next time out at LOUISVILLE … In his first start since Dec. 5, Devendorf had what was at the time a career-high 27 points and a career-best five three’s and five steals against DePAUL on Feb. 3 … In that same contest, he and Andy Rautins became the second SU duo since 1998 to each make five or more three-pointers in a game … He recorded the first double-double of his career with 11 points and 11 assists in the Orange’s win against GEORGETOWN... The assist total was the best of his career … It marked the first time an SU player registered a points-assists double-double since Gerry McNamara turned the trick against CONNECTICUT in the 2006 BIG EAST Tournament … He scored 33 points in a loss at VILLANOVA … Devendorf topped that effort with 34 versus SOUTH ALABAMA in the NIT … He was selected for the Athlon Magazine Preseason All-BIG EAST Third Team.
Freshman Year: Devendorf had his first career start against SIENA… On the season, he averaged 12.9 points per game in contests he lined up with the first unit … His five three-pointers, combined with Demetris Nichols’ six three-pointers against TCU, was the first time since 1998 that two SU players made five or more three-point baskets in a single game … His 11- and 10-point performances against TEXAS TECH and FLORIDA marked the first time an SU freshman had back-to-back double-figure scoring games since 2002-03 when both Carmelo Anthony and Gerry McNamara did so … He had a season-high six assists when Syracuse defeated TOWSON … Devendorf scored a then career-high 22 points against NOTRE DAME … He also surpassed 20 points in games at VILLANOVA (21) and at home versus RUTGERS (21)… In one four-game stretch (at ST. JOHN’S-thru-WEST VIRGINIA), he averaged 16.0 points an outing … He averaged 14.5 points per game in BIG EAST regular-season play … He scored in double-figures in 22 games, including 11 of the last 12 … His 50 three pointers represented the third-best SU season total by a freshman … He was selected BIG EAST Preseason Rookie of the Year and capped the campaign by being named to the league’s all-rookie team.
Oak Hill Academy: Devendorf transfered to Oak Hill Academy (Va.) for his senior season … He followed in the footsteps of three previous Orange performers -- Billy Edelin, Carmelo Anthony and Dayshawn Wright -- in the nationally-recognized program … A McDonald’s All-America selection, Devendorf had 13 points and three assists to help the East defeat the West, 115-110 … He also participated in the Roundball Classic where he earned co-West Most Valuable Player honors after contributing 17 points and seven assists … The West won, 136-119 … Devendorf was an EA Sports All-America pick … He was named a third-team Parade All-American…Oak Hill earned the number one ranking and was proclaimed the 2005 national champion … The squad was 34-2 on the year … Devendorf had a season-high 23 points in games against Bonner Academy and Woodside … He had a 21-point outburst when Oak Hill beat Lanier in the Marshall County Hoopfest and had a 20-point outing versus Lynwood in the Top of the World Tournament … He just missed a double-double against Statesville Christian, tallying 18 points and nine assists in a 110-45 triumph … He completed the campaign with a 15.3 scoring mark on 472 points … Devendorf averaged 4.5 assists per game … Coach Steve Smith guided Oak Hill to the following tournament titles during that campaign: the Blue Chip Shootout, the Bourbon Shootout, the Top of the World Tournament, the Les Schwab Invitational, the Roundball Classic, the Primetown Shootout and the Champions Basketball Classic … Prior to enrolling in Oak Hill, Devendorf was ranked ninth in the class of 2005 by recruiting analyst Dave Telep of The InsidersHoops.com … He was ranked 22nd in the class by Clark Francis of HoopScooponline.
High School: In just three seasons, Devendorf became Bay City Central’s all-time scoring leader with 1,224 points … He earned all-state honors in Michigan three times … As a junior, Devendorf averaged 30.6 points and 8.0 rebounds a game for Coach Joe Ricard … Devendorf was a two-time Reebok ABCD Camp All-Star … Following his junior season, he participated in the USA Basketball Youth Development Festival … He ranked second on the North squad in scoring average (16.6 ppg.) and led the team in steals average (2.4 spg.) … Devendorf helped the North to a silver medal in the event … He also participated in the NBA Players Association camp.
Personal: Eric Michael Devendorf was born in April 1987, in Bay City, Michigan … He is the son of Curt and Cindy Devendorf … He has two sisters… Devendorf is pursuing a degree in communication and rhetorical studies.
