Syracuse’s intercollegiate schedule is underway and we are about to begin a new chapter for Syracuse Athletics. Our facilities are proudly outfitted with our new “block S” logo – a reminder of the original insignia representing our athletic achievement. This tradition dates back to 1893 when Clarence Goodwin ‘94, manager of the football team, introduced the block S as the official symbol of the University’s teams. Today our staff is looking forward with optimism to a new chapter in our history.
As Dr. Daryl Gross begins his second full season at the helm of the Syracuse Athletics Department his mission for the program is clear - to be EXTRAORDINARY! His vision is shared by your newly renamed Orange Club office. We will make giving easier for our donors and we will create an equitable and exciting system to recognize those who have so generously shared their resources with Syracuse Athletics and the University. We are proud to implement the following changes to achieve the kind of success Dr. Gross is looking for:
Making Giving Easier
Many of our donors make gifts to more than one area in Athletics. Some of our donors receive as many as five different renewal notices or reminders for their various commitments. This December, we are introducing a new invoice system that summarizes, in one notice, all of the gifts and commitments our donors have made to the Athletic Department in the previous year. This will provide our donors with a complete picture of their annual gifts and commitments and the impact they have on Syracuse Athletics. Enclosed you will find a sample invoice. In December you will receive an invoice that accurately lists your gifts from the previous fiscal year and information on how to renew or increase your contributions for the current year.
Customer Service
In the past, both the Orange Pack and the Box Office would take orders for tickets and parking. This often led to confusion between the two departments and wasted time for our donors. The former point system was helpful to the Box Office to some extent but it may not have accurately illustrated the various ways that our donors have supported Athletics and other areas of the University. With the implementation of a new computer module in the Box Office, we seek to enhance our relationship with our donors.
The Box Office staff now have an accurate summary of a donor’s annual contributions to Athletics – they will come to know you and take care of you in the same way our wonderful Orange Club staffers Mary Dunham and Barb Nesci have for so many years. New Orange Club staff Lisa Moore and Matt Palumb are wonderful additions to the office and have already demonstrated their commitment to serving our fans.
Beginning this fall, all ticket and parking requests will be coordinated through the Box Office. Ultimately, this approach will ensure that tickets and parking are issued in a more equitable fashion and you get great customer service from everyone you come in contact with in Athletics.
Recognizing Our Donors
Syracuse is implementing a new University-wide recognition and courtesy system for all of our donors. The Orange Club is enthusiastically participating in this process. In the future you will be able to enjoy courtesies based on your cumulative giving to Syracuse Athletics each fiscal year (July 1-June 30). As of June 30th, 2006 your total cumulative giving to Syracuse Athletics totaled $4,000. This total includes any matching gifts received in conjunction with your gift to Syracuse Athletics. Please refer to the enclosed brochure to determine the benefits associated with this level of giving.
We hope you find these new initiatives helpful to you as you review your plans and priorities for supporting Syracuse Athletics. The following page of frequently asked questions should help explain these changes in more detail.
Thank you again for helping ensure the success of Syracuse Athletics. We look forward to an exciting and memorable year. GO ORANGE!
